Within the scope of the “Türkiye’s Net Zero Emission Target: Road Map for Transport” Project, a five-day training programme on Transport Planning and Transport Modelling was held on 7, 8, 12, 13, and 14 August 2025. The training covered key theoretical aspects, including transport modelling methodology, the four-step modelling approach, demand forecasting processes, scenario analysis, calibration techniques, and evaluation of model outputs.
In the practical sessions, the VISUM transport modelling software was used for hands-on exercises including network coding, traffic analysis zone definition, matrix development, private vehicle and public transport assignment procedures, volume-delay functions, skim matrix calculations, and GIS data integration.
The training was delivered by Yücel Erdem Dişli (Senior Transport Planning Expert and Transportation Engineer, specialized in SUMP development and transport modelling), Melike Sarım Boynuyoğun (Transport Planning and Modelling Expert), Taceddin Kınay (Transport Modelling Expert), and Murat Mat (Transport Planning and Modelling Expert). The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity in transport planning and modelling and enhance their effective use of modelling tools in strategic planning processes.
