Within the scope of the “Türkiye’s Net Zero Emission Target: Road Map for Transport” Project, the Maritime Transport Thematic Workshop was held on 15 May 2026 at the Latanya Hotel in Ankara. The workshop reviewed the current state of the maritime sector, relevant policy documents and international examples, financing instruments, energy supply and the fuel mix, electrification, the emissions model, draft strategies, targets, key performance indicators, and possible actions.

Roundtable work and group presentations addressed priority measures; short-, medium- and long-term targets; regulatory, financial, technical and institutional barriers; proposed solutions and mitigation measures; investment estimates; financing options; institutional responsibilities; and opportunities for cooperation and complementarity with other modes of transport. Stakeholder inputs were intended to inform the strategy and action plan, simulation-model scenarios and the development of the project portfolio.
